On the afternoon of September 11, 2025, Sil peacefully passed away at her home in Woodstock after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sil was born in Lünen, Germany on April 12, 1956, the daughter of the late Erich and Ursula Voss. She is survived by her brother Manfred Voss of Conway, SC; nephews Erik (Monica) Voss of Concord, NC, and Kristian Voss of Purling, NY; sister-in-law SusanJo Voss of Charlotte, NC; great-nephew Mason Voss and great-niece Sienna Voss of Concord, NC; best friend Kim Ross of Shokan, NY; and her beloved dogs Elvis, Ellie, and Iggy.
After working for her family’s businesses of Eric’s Cleaners and then Voss Sport Supply in College Point, NY, Sil worked for Voss Sport Inc. of Round Top, NY when she moved upstate in 1981. As a lifelong caretaker, gardener, and artist, Sil took immense pride in making and keeping things beautiful, clean, and orderly, especially after she became a fixture of Woodstock and the area. Love of nature defined Sil, the kind of person who cared for no longer wanted pets and plants, fed animals before herself, stopped traffic to assist a turtle crossing the road, or diligently saved wildflowers from the lawn by relocating them to her gardens. Always thinking of others, Sil was notorious for gifting people the most thoughtful things that she would come across, as well as her art, proudly displayed by many people in their homes. Despite not having it easy, Sil always did her best to remain positive and love life and all its wonder.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
