Joan Putman

Joan H. Putman, 90, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025 at home.  She resided in Woodstock and Vero Beach, FL.

She was born on July 29, 1935 to the late Fred and Helen Hepfer. She grew up in Johnstown, NY where she was surrounded by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  It’s also where she met the love of her life, her husband, John.

She was married for 68 wonderful years to her high school sweetheart, John.   They explored the country until they discovered the perfect place to spend their winters in Vero Beach.   Here she spent many years golfing with friends. Joan was also a wonderful cook and gardener.   She worked magic from the produce in her garden and taught her family how to make the most elaborate meals from what she had grown.

She worked for 20 years at Miller Junior High School in the guidance office where she loved working with children of all ages.   They came to her in confidence for guidance, problem solving, and advice.  Her off beat sense of humor affected anyone who was around her and kept everyone looking on the bright side.  Her laugh was infectious.

She was a friend to her children, her children’s friends, and family.    She kept everyone looking on the positive side of life.  She will be missed by those whom she touched.

Joan is predeceased by her husband, John.  Survivors include her daughter Kim Putman; and her partner Victor, and her son Greg Putman all of Woodstock, brother and sister-in-law Fred and Brenda Hepfer and two grandchildren Conner and Taylor.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 17 from 4-7pm at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc.  Her Funeral Service will be held at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc. on Thursday, September 18 at 10am. The Burial will follow in the Woodstock Cemetery.
